Murders on the Mesa mission!

Hey all! So here's the skinny for the mission about the West Mesa Murders:

Location: Zimmerman Plaza (easy access for those agents performing in other shows)

Time: March 13, 4 pm

Game plan:
8 girls will be needed to represent the bodies that have been found lately along the West Mesa (i know there are actually 13 bodies but i'm keeping the numbers small to make coordination easy). These girls will be wearing all blacks, carrying signs, and wandering the little section of Zimmerman Plaza we do this at in a sort of "lost souls" fashion. (I'll explain this when we all get together before the actual mission.) As some of you may know, two of the bodies found out on the West Mesa have been identified so to represent this two girls will carry signs with the initials of the identified. The other six girls will carry signs that have question marks on them. All eight girls will either be wearing full-faced neutral white masks or be painted in white make up depending on how many masks I can get my hands on.
5 people will be needed to represent the authority figures involved in this case. I would like to have mostly guys do this but ladies are more than welcome to this part too! These five will be wearing "business" clothes (preferably dress pants/shirts but not necessary, ties ARE MANDATORY for this part of the piece). These five will be forming a line situated in front of the 8 girls.
Since it's being assumed that the authorities knew about a lot of if not all of these disappearances, so to represent this I'd like to have the 5 people playing the authorities stand completely still and be facing a certain direction (again, something to work out when we get together).
Anyone else who would like to participate in this piece, can! We need whoever else wants to participate to be family members of the Lost Girls, desperately trying to find their daughters. The family members will have photos of their lost ones to show the authority figures, but the authorities will continually not say anything and turn a blind eye to the family's pleas. Family members can wear normal clothes

phew. Ok, I know it's a lot of information to take in in just one posting, but it's going to be amazing!! So i'd like to get together before the actual mission next week (Friday March 13, 4 pm) to map out where we are going and what exactly we'll be doing. How does Wednesday March 11 at 4:30 work for everyone???
i'm super duper excited for this piece and i hope everyone can partake in the beauty that is performance!!

Re: Murders on the Mesa mission!

Beautiful.

I'd love to play one of the lost souls.  Next Wednesday at 4:30 works perfectly for me.  And I found the white face paint.

Re: Murders on the Mesa mission!

Catie, props on getting this mission worked out so quickly, it sounds like a good one.

One thing that popped into my mind though when reading this was the time. I'm not sure how an audience plays into your idea of the mission but I'm pretty sure Smith Plaza is quite empty on Friday afternoons and next Friday being the last school day before spring vacation could make it even more vacant. I'm not usually on campus friday's around 4pm so I really can't say for sure but I thought you should know.

People passing though the scene or not, this mission seems like it'd be really cool filmed and maybe even editted.

And in any case, I would be intersted in playing one of the five authorities. However, I haven't really heard the interesting details of the situation - officials from the police department or the city government knew about the disappearances? So there's some controversy sounding these discoveries? Could you post some links to more information, I'm interested in understanding the whole story.

Re: Murders on the Mesa mission!

Laurel: muchas gracias! i'm gonna hit up Hobby Lobby today to see what their mask stock looks like. Barney's only got two full face masks so I'll see what I can do.  Got your name down for a lost soul. :)

Ian: hmm, i hadn't figured on that, what with the next week being spring break. Any suggestions for location? I'd like to keep it close so those agents who are perfoming in the plays on campus this weekend can participate as well. People passing through is actually a bonus and part of the game plan for those playing family members. I would like those agents playing family members to ask anyone and everyone for help, even passers-by. And as for officials knowing or not knowing about the disappearances, that's just heresay as far as I've researched (but not entirely impossible considering the way authorities in our society often treat people of lower classes) but here are some links to what has been said:

http://www.courant.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/sns-ap-desert-bodies,0,290279.story (check this one out for a quote from Police Chief Schultz about how they don't think anyone is a "throwaway person". that really stuck with  me, i dunno why).

I also have  more articles that I can bring with me to the Freeze on Saturday. And, I'll put you down for an authority Ian. :D
