Re: Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling

I would just like to throw out my opinion on the advertising thing.

I think doing the mission would be awesome and totally make the kid's day but by advertising it, some creepy and/or unsafe people might show up. Also, if it were me and I saw an event advertised in the alibi or on craiglist at my address I would be really freaked out (think: the parents).

However, I see no problem with the STB showing up for some Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling. ^_^

I'd love to be involved but am worried about the wrestling since my knee isn't 100% yet. But, I'll do what I can.

Re: Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling

I totally got dibs on randy the ram! I think I have the fakest blonde hue to my hair compared to everybody else's. haha About the advertising, there's probably too many creeps out there for that to ever be completely okay. I wish it we could turn it into this huge impromptu sporting event that everybody knows about. That would be fuckin fantastic...

Re: Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling

The general consensus seems to be to keep this within the group, or at least not to advertise in local media, on fliers, etc.  And that makes sense.  So once I finally talk with this family, I will set a time, and let's see if we can fifty costumed people and a cheering section there.  I think we can do it.

I guess the only reason I wanted to do the fliers was because once I put up about 3,000 fliers advertising my younger brother as a professional cat groomer (with a coupon on every flier for one free grooming session), and the resulting months of bizarre phone calls that my unsuspecting sibling received still give me joy to contemplate all these many years later.

But this is different, and we do have to worry about the little kid's safety.

Re: Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling

I am also interested in this mission and I agree with everything that's been said.  YAY for luchadores!

Re: Extreme Championship Backyard Wrestling

As far as this Luchadore thing, I think we should forget about that flier that the kids put up. That seems to have gotten the ball rolling, and now we can run with it. As far as public advertising goes, it would be a most terrible idea to post that persons address publicly, I'd freak out if I were the parents. The luchadore idea though, is great. We can plaster fliers for a fake "Mexican Wrestling Meeting" that will take place in some public area where something totally non-luchadore is already going to be going on. Then we have dozens of luchadores showing up to an outdoor bridge game, a medieval lovers swordfight meeting, or soccer championship or something like that.

It'd be great, and we could film it without invading someone's home.
